Pallet Racking
Pallet rack, also referred to as “pallet racking,” is a material handling storage aid system designed to store materials on pallets (or “skids”). Although there are many varieties of pallet rack, all types allow for the storage of palletized materials in horizontal rows with multiple levels to maximize pallet shelving space. All types of pallet racks create some level of increase storage density. Pallet racks are an essential and ubiquitous element in most modern warehouses, manufacturing facilities, retail centers, and other storage and distribution facilities. Many types of pallet racks are available with different designs to fulfill specific warehouse functions or create specific advantages, the most common of these include DRIVE-IN, Cantilever and Mezzanine storage systems. The DRIVE-IN racking system allows the maximum use of space, and volume due to the elimination of access aisles. The storage volume is therefore more than doubled compared with standard pallet racking. Two kinds of installations are possible: DRIVE-IN or DRIVE-THROUGH.
UNICANT cantilever racking has been designed for the storage of long loads and comes in a range of standard sizes, offering the opportunity to provide maximum support what ever the type and length of the load. UNICANT is a heavy duty cantilever system. The range of available arm lengths and load bearing capacities allow the system to provide solutions for a large variety of goods, such as, wood panels, sheet metal plastic and metal profiles, semi finished products etc. The UNICANT cantilever system is self sustaining and therefore does not require to be attached to walls or other fixed objects to guarantee its load bearing capacity. The loading levels are easily varied at a pitch of 50mm.
Mezzanine storage systems are also frequently used in industrial operations such as warehousing, distribution or manufacturing. These facilities have high ceilings, allowing unused space to be utilized within the vertical cube. Industrial mezzanine pallet racks allow very high density storage within the mezzanine structures. Mezzanine storage systems may include additional structures such as stairs, railings, catwalks and ladders which can greatly increase the organization and efficiency of modern warehouse pallet racking systems.
